Soapstone, also known as steatite or soaprock, is a natural stone which has excellent heat storage properties because of its high density. In soapstone stoves, the stone is by no means simply a decorative feature. It is generally sufficient to burn fuel once or twice a day and then the stove will give off heat continuously for the rest of the day. Heat storage stoves are not designed for a quick fire now and then.
