Installation Installation

INSTALLING IN EXISTING PROPERTIES

You may live in an old house where there is no room for a chimney. Or perhaps you have built a new property, but decided not to include a chimney. This does not mean that you cannot install a fireplace or stove, because they can be fitted almost anywhere.

Installing fireplaces and stoves in existing properties

A number of solutions are available on the market. The most familiar and cost-effective option is a stainless steel chimney fitted on an external wall. These are quick and relatively clean to install. Retrofitting an internal chimney made of lightweight concrete is also a straightforward process. This is a less obtrusive solution, but is also more time-consuming and costly, because holes need to be made in floors and ceilings and work carried out on the roof.

You may live in an old building or a rented property. That’s not a problem... Old building or a rented property? No problem...

If you want to install a fireplace or stove in an older house, you may well find that all you need to do is create an access to an existing chimney. When you have your chimney swept, your chimney sweep will be able to help you. You should consult him before you start any work. Fireplaces and stoves are being installed more and more in rented apartments and houses. The landlord must give permission for the work to go ahead, but the resulting increase in the value of the property means that, as a tenant, you have a convincing argument.
