Installation Installation

SUBSEQUENT ADDITION OF FIREPLACES

You will be surprised: often existing flues can be reactivated and a good value retrofit is possible in most cases without any problems. Your dream of your own fireplace won't falter at this hurdle – whether you live in your own house or you are renting.

Would you like to have a fireplace or stove, but don't know where and how you can connect it to a chimney? There are various solutions for retrofitting.

External or internal chimney?

The best value and most popular options are external chimneys made from stainless steel. They can be installed in the blink of an eye without any debris. These chimneys are particularly suited to newer houses with minimalistic architecture.
An internal chimney is often better suited to the architecture of old houses, but is more complex and expensive. Intermediate ceilings have to be opened and roof work carried out. Are you planning to install a solar system? Then, your best bet will be to have an extra flue put in as an installation duct.

Old building or renting?

Many owners of old buildings are lucky when it comes to the retrofitting of a fireplace or stove. Usually, only an inlet to an existing chimney has to be created. Already existing flues are quickly sanitised by the introduction of a stainless steel or firebrick flue. Fireplaces in rented flats are becoming more and more common; however, installation is subject to approval. Argue that it will increase the value of the property. This will more than likely convince your landlord.
